The curtain rises once again on singers, dancers, musicians and comedians for the UAB School of Nursing’s annual Applause for a Cause: Educate a Nurse fund-raising event, presented by UAB Medicine.
The evening of entertainment benefitting scholarships for UAB School of Nursing students and hosted by the school’s board of visitors begins at 5:30 p.m., April 26, 2012, in the Alys Stephens Center, 1200 10th Avenue South. The show is being emceed by former Miss Alabama and current UAB student Ashley Davis along with Tuscaloosa-based motivational comedian Ed Conyers. The evening features a talented line-up, including Barbara O’Neal Eddleman and Fabian Sanchez, the Simone Durand Trio, Michele Miree Smith accompanied by CrossRoads, Alex Swader, the Red Mountain Theatre Company Youth Programs, Daniel Tankersley, George Wallace Jr. and the Theatre UAB Cabaret Touring Group.
In addition to live entertainment, the event features a silent auction, VIP lounge and hors d’oeuvres and desserts by Creative Cuisine. Attendees also will meet nursing students supported by scholarships through a video created by Dill Production. This year, patrons are invited to honor a nurse in their life with event support. These special tributes will be showcased at the event and honorees will be recognized by the school during Nurses Week, May 6-12.
