UAB hosts book discussions

Booktalks are led by UAB English professors or instructors and include classics and new works.

Each month, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of English hosts a book discussion titled BookTalk. Led by an English instructor or professor, the meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the Henley Room on the 2nd floor of the Mervyn Sterne Library, 917 13th Street S. The events are free and open to the public:

Oct. 1 – Randy Blythe, Ph.D.: “Three Tales” by Gustave Flaubert
Nov. 5 – Jay Jessee, Ph.D.: “A Lost Lady” by Willa Cather
Dec. 3 – Miriam Bellis, Ph.D.: “Straight Man” by Richard Russo
Feb. 4 – Danny Siegel, Ph.D.: “N.W.” by Zadie Smith
March  4 – Cassandra Ellis, Ph.D.: “The Art of Fielding” by Chad Harbach
April 1 – Randa Graves, Ph.D.: “The Round House” by Louise Erdrich
May 6 – Bill Hutchings, Ph.D.: “Talking it Over” by Julian Barnes
