Students in the UAB Blazer Male Excellence Network will help lead a discussion on black male issues as the Birmingham Museum of Art commemorates 50 Years Forward at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. The museum will feature the “Question Bridge” exhibit, a transmedia art project that explores black masculinity with video dialogue between black men who talk about race, class, sexuality and economic status. The event is free and open to the public.
The panel includes UAB students Darrius Nettles and Cory Ford, as well as UAB alumnus Lonnie Hannon, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology at Tuskegee University; Cedric Sparks, director of Birmingham’s Division of Youth Services; and Marcus Carson, executive director of Growing Kings.
The museum is located at 2000 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd.
