businessonline insideThe Master of Accountancy online degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business has been ranked among the top 10 programs of its kind, according to a list released this month by www.online-accounting-degrees.net.

This ranking is the second national accolade the program has received this year after being recognized as 17th in U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Online Programs rankings.

Programs included in the 2015 top 30 online master’s in accounting degree rankings are selected based on accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and recognition by the most respected college-ranking authorities: Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, and Academic Ranking of World Universities. UAB’s program is ranked No. 10.

The online Master of Accountancy program at UAB is designed for experienced professionals with a strong knowledge base in accounting and business. Students further their understanding of core competencies, and they also have the opportunity to advance skills in communication, interpersonal relationships, accounting technologies and applied research. Students without an accounting background can approach the Master of Accountancy online as a bridge program. Students are able to obtain formal accounting knowledge without a commitment to an additional bachelor’s degree.

The online degree is an extension of UAB’s on-campus programs, and a key component of the online program is providing students with the same academic rigor and personalized instruction they would receive in UAB’s traditional classrooms.
