UAB Medicine Urgent Care has announced an expansion to its facility located at 125 20th St. South, Suite 103. UAB Medicine Urgent Care has announced an expansion to its facility located at 125 20th St. South, Suite 103, which will allow the treatment center to facilitate more patients.
With the addition of six new exam rooms, the facility will now have a total of 11. The expansion will also allow better accommodations to patients in the waiting room. New positions have been filled with the hiring of a physician and four physician assistants. This, along with more rooms, will help expedite care and reduce wait times experienced last flu season.
UAB Medicine Urgent Care will be open seven days a week to treat patients ages 18 and older. Operating hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
Transitional care is a new service that will now be offered to patients recently discharged from UAB hospital. This service will offer an important continuity of care to patients between hospital discharge and a follow-up visit, as well as aid in reducing readmissions and visits to the ER.
UAB Medicine Urgent Care continues to treat patients for all non-emergent medical conditions, such as upper respiratory tract and urinary tract infections, sinusitis, headache, cuts/abrasions, mild orthopedic injuries, hypertensive urgency, and mild exacerbations of chronic conditions including asthma, COPD or congestive heart failure.
Free parking is available in the deck attached to the clinic building; enter from First Avenue South. Most insurance plans are accepted, and patients are asked to bring their insurance card to their visit.
