global networkBoleslaw K. Szymanski, Ph.D., distinguished professor of computer science and cognitive science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will be a guest lecturer at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on Friday, Oct. 9.

Szymanski, the founder of RPI’s Center for Pervasive Computing and Networking, will discuss the use of crowd-sourced, expert assessments of risk likelihoods and influence as a starting point to build a quantitative model of the dynamics of the global risk network.

The lecture, hosted by UAB’s Computer and Information Sciences Department in the College of Arts and Sciences, is open to the public. It will be held in Heritage Hall, Room 102, 1401 University Boulevard, at 11:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9.
