U.S. News & World Report ranks six online undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham among the nation’s best, including four programs and schools that moved up several spots from a year ago. The latest rankings were released in the 2016 edition of “Best Online Programs,” available online at www.usnews.com.
UAB was rated No. 86 in this year’s rankings for its offerings of online bachelor’s degree programs. For this category, U.S. News & World Report evaluated schools based on student engagement in the programs, the faculty’s credentials in training and their reputations among peers, as well as student services and technologies.
UAB currently offers the following online bachelor’s degrees:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- Bachelor of Science in Finance
- Bachelor of Science in Information Systems
- Bachelor of Science in Management
- Bachelor of Science in Marketing
- Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management
- Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
In addition to the online undergraduate programs ranking, UAB has five online graduate programs ranked by the 2016 U.S. News & World Report list. The graduate-level programs were assessed through the measurement of several ranking indicators, including student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, and peer reputation.
The School of Nursing’s online graduate program was ranked No. 17 of the 110 schools rated as best in that category.
In the Collat School of Business, the Master of Accounting online degree was ranked No. 51 in the best online graduate business, non-MBA category. Collat’s Master of Science in Management Information Systems online degree was ranked No. 33.
The online graduate program in the School of Education was ranked No. 95 in 2016, rising from its 2015 ranking of 134.
The School of Engineering’s online graduate program rose to a ranking of 33 this year. The ranking reflects a jump from last year, when the online program was tied for No. 40 in the same ranking.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on expert opinion about program quality and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students.
