The winners of the 2016 University of Alabama at BirminghamSchool of Medicine art show will be announced at a reception beginning at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, in The Edge of Chaos, fourth floor of the Lister Hill Library, 1700 University Blvd.
The 16th annual show consists of artwork from students, residents and faculty of the School of Medicine. The works are judged by a panel of UAB faculty, staff and students. The top three winners receive cash prizes, and all entries are on display.
The winning entry in the student/resident/fellow category is an acrylic on canvas work called Avian Current by Peter Daniel, M.D.
The winning faculty entry is a pen and ink drawing entitled Study of Claudel’s Bust of Rodin by James Banos, Ph.D.
The reception will feature a silent auction of many of the pieces in the show to benefit the art therapy program at Children’s of Alabama.
The show is hosted by the Alabama Alpha Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences.
