Many people with a cancer diagnosis want to continue working during treatment or return to their jobs after active cancer treatments end. Navigating the process can be difficult, and decisions can be complex for both the patient and the employer.
Many people need to work to keep their health insurance or to feel productive both during treatment and after. Employers also want to support their employees in a way that helps them be as productive as possible.
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center is sponsoring a Lunch and Learn event Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lakeshore Rehabilitation, Sington Room,
4000 Ridgeway Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209. It will focus on workplace challenges that patients and employers face while dealing with cancer.
Patients and especially human resources personnel from local businesses are encouraged to attend. The expert panel discussion with Q&A session will address specific concerns, the legal obligations of employers and employees, and the provision of accommodations for employees with cancer.
Advance registration is required for this free event. For additional information, call 205-313-7400.
