The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s National Alumni Society and Student Alumni Society are partnering with Habitat for Humanity and Red Mountain Park for UAB Unite Day.
The day of service will take place Saturday, April 8, from 8 a.m.-noon. It is open to the public, and participants can choose from separate opportunities offered by the two nonprofits and reserve a volunteer spot online.
The Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity partners with families, sponsors and communities to build affordable, quality houses and provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership. During UAB Unite Day, participants will volunteer at a Habitat construction site and revitalize a home selected through the organization’s Home Repair Program. Volunteers at the site will be instructed to follow all construction site guidelines, such as wearing close-toed shoes, hardhats and fitted clothing.
Red Mountain Park aims to connect communities by reclaiming the land where Birmingham began, uniting community members on the path toward a healthier future. Volunteers at this location will clear brush, blaze new trails, plant foliage and aid in the completion of the outdoor UAB classroom.
