Student filmmakers will host Steel Reel Film Festival

steel reel web The Broadcast Education Association Media Club at the University of Alabama at Birmingham will host the Steel Reel Film Festival on Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Theater of the UAB Hill Student Center, 1400 University Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.

Short documentaries, narratives and public service announcements from student and amateur filmmakers from around the state of Alabama will be screened.

Two awards come with cash prizes: Best in Show and Audience Choice award. All other categories will be judged and awarded a certificate for the top selections. Free food will be provided, along with select door prizes. Winners of the competition will be announced at the end of the program.
