Singer-songwriter H.E.R. is the performer for the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Spring Concert on Saturday, April 21.
Gabi Wilson created the stage name H.E.R., an acronym for “Having Everything Revealed,” as a metaphor for who she was during the time she was writing and recording her debut album. Released in 2016, “H.E.R. Vol. 1” made iTunes’ Best of 2016 R&B/Soul Albums list, with the track “Losing” making the R&B/Soul Singles list. NPR listed the album as the first selection in its 5 Essential R&B Albums You Slept On roundup.
The concert is presented by UAB Student Involvement and Leadership, the University Programs Board, and the Undergraduate Student Government Association.
The 7 p.m. concert, immediately following Spring Fest, will take place in the Hill Student Center Amphitheater. Admission is free for UAB students with a valid One Card. UAB students may pick up wristbands at SpringFest from 2-6 p.m. or at the concert entrance starting at 6 p.m.
General admission tickets are $20. Purchase general tickets in advance online. The show will happen rain or shine.
