The UAB Health System has been named a 2018 Top Performer by Vizient for supply chain performance excellence. The recognition highlights top performers in supply chain management as measured by supply expense at the facility level, as well as for select departments such as pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, radiology, blood services, cardiology and surgical services. UAB was one of five Vizient academic medical center members named as a top performer in this award category.
“With 1,157 beds and 600,000 outpatient encounters per year, UAB is one of the largest academic medical centers in the nation, making the efficient management of supplies essential to everything we do,” said Will Ferniany, Ph.D., CEO of the UAB Health System. “This recognition from Vizient reflects on the hard work and dedication of all employees who touch any aspect of our supply chain. They are an essential and integral component of our success.”
“The UAB Health System’s supply chain leadership—working in collaboration with their physicians, caregivers and associates—leverages data to gain insights that promote rational and cost effective patient-centered care. As a result of this high level of engagement from all stakeholders, this facility was a Vizient top performer in supply chain management metrics in 2018,” said David Levine, senior vice president, advanced analytics and informatics for Vizient.
