Design thinking is used by the world’s greatest innovators, focusing on reframing problems in a mindset that is concentrated on empathy with others. The University of Alabama at Birmingham MakerSpace is hosting a hands-on Design Thinking Day to teach students across campus the mindsets used to effectively tackle wicked problems. The event will take place Thursday, July 12, from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the UAB MakerSpace, 917 13th St. South.
Students will have the opportunity to take part in multiple challenges throughout the day while diving deeper to develop empathy by designing projects for and with others. They will find themselves reframing problems in unexpected ways through brainstorming that generates radical ideas. By prototyping experiences, innovators will be able to communicate ideas in compelling ways and learn how that enables rapid feedback.
The one-day class will build on the ability to create value by solving problems and scaling impact, all while embracing failure in order to learn and grow from the experience.
