The Family and Community Medicine Clinic at the University of Alabama at Birmingham will move to UAB Hospital-Highlands later this month. The move will benefit both patients and physicians.
“For the patients, they are closer to additional services they may require, such as imaging and other specialists,” said Thalia Baker, associate vice president of Primary Care at UAB. “For the physicians, they are closer to other health care providers who may also be treating their patients, which will make it easier for them to collaborate.”
The move will also be beneficial to the new chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Irfan Asif, M.D., is a primary care physician who specializes in sports and exercise medicine. The UAB Sports Medicine Clinic is also located at UAB Highlands.
The clinic will open July 31.
