The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama is currently accepting proposals for a two-year collaborative breast cancer research award among the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Southern Research and/or HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.
Projects can focus on any area of breast cancer research, which may include but is not limited to personalized medicine, prevention, early detection, drug discovery, immunotherapy, genomics and new breast cancer treatments. The approved project will receive $50,000 annually for two consecutive years, totaling $100,000 of support to the selected project.
The BCRFA is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for breast cancer research in Alabama, and all proceeds from its fundraising efforts benefit the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since its inception in 1996, the BCRFA has raised more than $5.8 million to fund research at UAB.
The goals for launching the BCRFA Collaboration Award are to encourage collaborative research among top researchers in Alabama in the field of breast cancer research, to help support basic research that can emerge into translational research, to offer financial support to promising breast cancer research in Alabama so researchers can secure additional national funding, and to offer hope to those affected by breast cancer and ultimately save lives through breast cancer research.
Proposals must be submitted for consideration to the BCRFA by Aug. 31. To request a copy of the submission guidelines and further details on the inaugural award, please call 205-996-5463 or email BCRFA@uab.edu, or visit the Cancer Center website.
