University of Alabama at Birmingham now offers cosmetic dermatology services to meet patients’ skincare needs for the entire face and body at the UAB Medicine Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Clinic. Board-certified dermatologists will offer minimally invasive treatment options to enhance a healthy, natural and youthful appearance.
The“Our dermatologists understand how having a healthy appearance can make you feel more confident,” said Holly Gunn, M.D., assistant professor in the UAB Department of Dermatology. “UAB Cosmetic Dermatology provides men and women, young and old the services needed to make them feel their best by enhancing their appearance.”
The grand opening and open house is set for Friday, Dec. 1, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on the third floor of the Whitaker Clinic at UAB Hospital, 500 22nd St. South. Guests will receive a 25 percent discount on all products that day and a 25 percent discount on procedures booked by phone or in person.
The clinic will use cutting-edge technology to make patients look and feel better with minimal pain and less downtime. Services to provide patients with firmer, smoother and clearer skin include Photorejuvenation with light-based and radio frequency devices for all skin types and body sculpting with Coolsculpting and ThermiSmooth, which use cold and heat to remove fat and tighten skin. Botox and similar services smooth wrinkles and fill soft tissue to add lost volume back to the face, neck and hands.
Patients with acne and rosacea will be treated with light- and nutrient-based therapies, as well as skincare products to fit any budget. Sclerotherapy and laser treatment will be provided to patients with spider veins and large blemishes, such as tattoos, birthmarks and sunspots.
UAB was the first in Alabama to offer non-invasive laser treatments, like Fraxel, that drastically decrease wrinkles and smooth skin, as well as offering radio frequency vaginal rejuvenation and tightening.
