The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 100 hospital and health systems with great women’s health programs for 2017.
Specifically, UAB’s Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine was highlighted for its 24 hours a day, 365 days a year availability and support for patients in need of high-risk obstetric care. UAB is the only Alabama hospital to make the list, and the division is one of only six like programs included in the list.
Becker’s Hospital Review notes that the included award-winning programs were recognized for their roles in women’s health, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, gynecology, and women’s heart care, as hospitals were acknowledged for their “forward-thinking labor and delivery departments and recognition for maternity care.”
The Becker’s editorial team selected hospitals based on national rankings and awards received from several institutions, including U.S. News & World Report, CareChex, Women’s Choice Award Best Breast Centers, and Baby-Friendly USA. Hospitals could not pay for inclusion on the list, and the list does not reflect program rank.
