Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine has opened a new sports medicine clinic at UAB Highlands Hospital targeted at college-age and older athletes.
Collegiate athletes and weekend warriors have a new option for tending to the injuries that can come from a long season or an intense pickup game. The“We’re excited to expand upon our existing sports medicine offerings,” said Rob Crabtree, executive administrator for UAB Orthopaedics. “This new clinic will be geared more toward mature young athletes and weekend warriors. This includes our UAB students who participate in athletics as well as others who may incur acute general orthopaedic injuries, whether in competition or in daily life.”
The clinic is on the first floor at UAB Highlands Hospital. It features seven exam rooms and has its own X-ray and ultrasound capability. The clinic is staffed by physicians and other medical professionals trained in sports medicine.
