After serving as president-elect of the Alabama State Council of the Emergency Nurses Association for two years, UAB School of Nursing instructor Melanie Gibbons Hallman, DNP, recently began serving a two-year term as the organization’s president.
Hallman, who has provided pre-hospital and emergency services for more than 35 years, has been an active leader within the Emergency Nurses Association since 1988, serving in multiple leadership positions at the state and local levels and as a reviewer for the Journal of Emergency Nursing.
She has served as a delegate from Alabama to the National ENA General Assembly for 12 years and was selected to make a podium presentation to the Scientific Assembly at the 2014 ENA Annual Conference in Indianapolis, where she spoke on the topic of positive versus adverse effects of herbal supplements in health care.
Hallman also currently serves as an appointed member of the City of Birmingham Mayor’s EMS Advisory Committee and was recently selected as an item writer for the newly developed Trauma Certified Registered Nurse examination offered by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.
