Hasan named senior member by Association of Computing Machinery

Only 151 computer scientists worldwide were recognized as senior members by the ACM in 2015.

ragib hasan 2015 2Ragib Hasan, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer and information sciences in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences, has been named a senior member by the Association of Computing Machinery.

The Association of Computing Machinery is the largest society devoted to educational and scientific computing. Its goal is to deliver resources in order to advance computing as a science and a profession. The ACM gives senior member status to those who have at least 10 years of professional experience and five years of continued professional membership in the society. The senior member designation was established 2006 to recognize the top 25 percent of the society’s members for their demonstrated excellence in the field.

Hasan is the director of the UAB SECure and Trustworthy Computing Lab and 2014 recipient of the National Science Foundation’s CAREER Award for his research on trustworthy cloud computing. He is also the founder of Shikkhok.com, an award-winning free education platform in the Bengali language, and the coordinator of the BanglaBraille project, aimed at creating educational material for visually impaired children in South Asia.
