George Lewis Mitchell Jr., DMD, a UAB School of Dentistry alumnus and adjunct professor and practicing dentist in Gadsden, Alabama, was recently elected second vice president of the American Dental Association. Mitchell’s election took place during a meeting of the ADA House of Delegates in Denver, Colorado.
As a member of the ADA Board, Mitchell will play a major role in the ADA’s efforts to be America’s leading advocate for oral health. He has been president of both the Alabama Dental Association and the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry.
Mitchell earned a DMD degree from the UAB School of Dentistry and has been in private practice since 1975. Since 2011, he has helped train the next generation of dentists as an adjunct associate professor at UAB.
