chelsea jordan streamSenior Chelsey Jordan has been selected to serve as an official delegate for the Public Relations Student Society of America’s National Assembly in Miami, Florida, in March.

Delegates will meet to vote on bylaws, make decisions about future plans for the society and elect new national committee chairs. The national assembly will also include leadership and professional development training sessions, during which delegates and attendees will learn from and connect with public relations professionals.

“This is the first time a UAB student has been selected to send a delegate,” said Jacquelyn Shaia, Ph.D., assistant professor and director of the Public Relations Curriculum in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences. “Recognition of our students and participation in national activities help establish a national presence for this small but award-winning program. Chelsey is an outstanding student, and I am delighted she will represent UAB.”

Jordan sits on UAB’s 2017-2018 PRSSA Executive Board as a co-chair of Programs and oversees all event and meeting planning. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in Spanish.

“PRSSA has played a big part in my professional growth, and I am honored to serve as our chapter’s delegate,” Jordan said. “The public relations field is competitive and ever-changing, so it will be a great opportunity to learn from established professionals and network with others in the field.”

PRSSA is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications, made up of more than 10,000 students and advisers organized into 300-plus chapters in the United States, Argentina, Colombia and Peru. Learn more about UAB PRSSA/PRCA here.
