Huh named president of medical society for HPV disease

The director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology has been named president of ASCCP.

warner huhWarner K. Huh, M.D., professor and director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Gynecologic Oncology and vice chair of UAB Gynecology, has been named president of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 year.

ASCCP is the national organization of health care professionals committed to improving health through the study, prevention, diagnosis and management of anogenital and HPV-related diseases. The society provides educational opportunities for its members with the goal of improving clinician competence, performance and patient outcomes.

In his role as president, Huh will serve as executive officer for the society and will oversee the governance of the board and organization. He will represent ASCCP at regular meetings and to the public. Prior to becoming president, Huh served as president-elect on the board.

“It’s an honor to serve as president of ASCCP and represent members who are committed to understanding and treating anogenital and HPV-related diseases,” Huh said. “In this capacity, I look forward to being a part of advancing our field and what we know about how to prevent, treat, diagnose and manage these diseases.”

At UAB, Huh holds the Margaret Cameron Spain Endowed Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as a senior scientist in the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
