Open forum set to discuss new Staff Council in new year

Written by

forum 2A working group will present an overview, describe the election process, propose timelines and provide an opportunity for employees to ask questions about the UAB Staff Council during an open forum 1:30-2:30 p.m. Jan. 6, 2016, in Hill Student Center Theatre.

The UAB Staff Council, an initiative that originated within the UAB Blaze Leadership Program, is being created to promote an exchange of ideas among its members and with the administration, similar to faculty senate and student government organizations. Council membership will be open to exempt and non-exempt, full- and part-time regular and irregular staff of the university; staff employed by the UAB Health System or its entities (excepting the UAB School of Medicine) are ineligible.

A proposed timeline for nomination, elections and officer selections will be discussed during the forum and posted along with plans for the council, FAQs and proposed by-laws at www.uab.edu/staffcouncil.
