To be eligible for an IEP award, an institution must first earn the IEP designation through a rigorous self-study of their economic engagement activities that includes input from external stakeholders.
The first “episode” of a new micro-learning series from Learning & Development drops 11 a.m. July 31. The guest star is UAB Chief Communications Officer Jim Bakken, who will explain how he uses the Schedule Emails tool in Microsoft Outlook to maximum advantage.
The UAB Department of Psychiatry is recruiting healthy adolescent participants for a clinical research study. The study will compare healthy adolescents and adolescents with functional seizures (FS).

To participate in this research, you must:
- be 11 to 18 years old
- have no diagnosed medical conditions
- have a parent/guardian available to participate in lab visits

If you choose to participate in the study, you will be part of the healthy control group. You will come for 2 lab visits 13 weeks apart. The adolescent can be compensated up to $100 total. To find out more about the study, call 205-975-4205 or email pedshealthlab@uabmc.edu.
You may be eligible to participate if you identify as female, White or African American, are aged 35-65, and have a BMI of 30+. Participants will receive $50 as thanks for their participation.

This study is a 5-hour workshop delivered in groups that is based on principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Participants will learn new skills to facilitate the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviors, such as eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. These skills include identifying values, tolerating the discomfort associated with lifestyle change, identifying self-sabotaging thoughts, and more!

The UA System Board of Trustees awarded the rank of Distinguished Professor to Ravi Bhatia, Heith Copes, Craig Elmets, Denise A. Gainey, Jeffrey D. Kerby, Farah D. Lubin, Jean-François Pittet and Martin E. Young and the rank of University Professor to Peter S. Hendricks during its meetings in April and June 2023.
You may be eligible to participate in a research study looking at the effects of sacubitril/valsartan on how your body handles sugar. This medication is related to blood pressure and is safe to take with or without hypertension. Eligible participants must be healthy men and women, African American, and have no history of diabetes, heart disease or kidney problems. The study involves performing some exercise, taking sacubitril/valsartan, and collecting blood samples. Participants will be compensated $675 for completing all the visits.
