WBHM met its spring fundraising goal of $150,000, and a major gift from local advertising agency kept the drive to one day. General Manager Mike Morgan said Tinsley Van Durand heard the station was $19,000 short on its one-day drive and decided to donate.

“It’s a great gift from a team of dedicated public radio listeners who work for a community-minded company,” Morgan said. “Most important, it means that WBHM completes a successful spring fundraiser and the on-air portion only took one day.”

WBHM raised more than $130,000 on April 2 and was set to continue its on-air drive Thursday, April 30 to make up the difference until they received notice of the gift.

“I guess you could say Lawler Ballard Van Durand saved themselves and other listeners from any more on-air fundraising during this spring campaign,” Morgan said. “That pleases us and certainly pleases them.”
