UAB’s revamped K-12 master’s degree curriculum has resulted in a new, stronger graduate program that faculty say will lead to the development of effective and dedicated leaders.
A free seminar for cancer patients and families will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 27 in The Kirklin Clinic Learning Center on the first floor.
The UAB Police Department will hold its annual Pedestrian Safety Campaign Oct. 19-30. The campaign is designed to remind pedestrians and drivers to be aware of increased traffic on campus and the dangers of jaywalking and to follow the rules of the road such as yielding the right of way to pedestrians.

UAB and the McKnight Brain Research Foun-dation, of Orlando, Fla., are establishing a $10 million endowment for the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute at UAB to support the institute and the Evelyn F. McKnight Endowed Chair for Learning and Memory in Aging.
Pancreatic cancer is certainly one of the truly rare cancers — a person has only about a one in 76 chance of developing it in his or her lifetime. But while its incidence is relatively uncommon — ranking around ninth among cancers — pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly forms of the disease.
UAB spent more than $500,000 on solid waste disposal in 2008-09 — not including the waste generated by the UAB Health Systems properties — and the staff in Facilities estimated that 60 percent of the materials in campus dumpsters were recyclable. So UAB opened the new Recycling Center located at 620 11th Street South in March.
