Kathy Nugent, Ph.D., chair of our Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences and associate vice president, UAB Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was announced as one of the Top Birmingham Women of 2022 by the Birmingham Business Journal.

The Top Birmingham Women list is designed to “recognize women who have risen to the pinnacle of their industries or fields and who have a long and tangible track record of results and impact,” according to the Journal release. Nugent also serves as the executive director of the UAB Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She was one of 12 women on the list.

“I’m proud to take my place on this list among other Birmingham women who are doing tireless work to transform our community for the better,” Nugent said. “It’s gratifying to know that our work here at UAB and at the Harbert Institute is recognized and valued.”

Those named on the list will be honored at the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2022 Women’s Summit, to be held Sept. 23, 2022, at the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa in Hoover.
