UNWR Rankings 2025 2

For the seventh year in a row, the UAB M.S. in Health Administration (MSHA) program is the #1 “Best Health Care Management Program” in the nation according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. They have been ranked #7 or higher every year for the past 26 years.

The UAB School of Health Professions (SHP) has four programs ranked among the Top 25 graduate programs in the United States.

#1 M.S. in Health Administration

"We're very proud of all that the Health Services Administration staff and faculty do to reach the No. 1 status," said Jane Banaszak-Holl, Ph.D., chair, Department of Health Services Administration. "It is a combined effort of excellent teaching, industry partnerships, alumni engagement, and just hard work by faculty and staff to reach that!"

#17 Physical Therapy

"I am very pleased with the rankings and believe it reflects the innovation and excellent work coming from our dedicated faculty and staff," said David Morris, Ph.D., FAPTA, chair, Department of Physical Therapy. "I also believe that our students and alumni are tremendous ambassadors for us. This no doubt reflects well on our program."

#21 Physician Associate Studies

"The Physician Associate Studies program is proud to be listed in the top 25 PA programs in the nation by U.S News & World Report and is ranked in the top 5% of PA programs in the nation," said Floyd Josephat, EdD, MT(ASCP), interim chair, Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences. "This is a true testament to our continued excellence and dedication to our students, alumni, and faculty. We look forward to continuing our unwavering commitment to preparing the next generation of health care professionals."

#24 Occupational Therapy

"I am extremely proud of everything that the Department of Occupational Therapy does, much of which goes unnoticed. Yet, our passion and commitment to our students, our university, our community, and our profession make a difference every day," said Gavin Jenkins, Ph.D., chair, Department of Occupational Therapy. "Occupational therapy is a very unassuming profession, so often not seeking praise and recognition for the huge impact we have. But through excellence in teaching and mentoring, strong community partnerships, innovative and forward-thinking research and scholarship, and dedicated service to our profession, we keep striving to be better and reach higher. Today’s rankings are a wonderful outcome and serve as recognition of how, each day, we simply strive to be the best we can be."

This edition of the U.S. News & World Report rankings is based on 11 updated rankings, academic measures, and peer assessments from other schools. They also consider areas such as environment, strength of fields, cost after tuition and job placement at each institution.
