Borkowski AwardRobert Leech presents the award to Nancy BorkowskiNancy Borkowski, DBA, CPA, FACHE, FHFMA, distinguished professor in the UAB Department of Health Services Administration, received the 2024 Regent’s Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award from the Alabama Healthcare Executives Forum, an officially designated chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Borkowski, a fellow of the ACHE and the Healthcare Financial Management Association, earned the award for setting exemplary standards in a broad range of areas such as, living the ACHE Code of Ethics, demonstrating best practices of health care leadership, mentoring the next generation of executives, and significantly serving the organization and its initiatives

“The Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award recognizes someone in a senior leadership position who, among other qualities, is truly committed to mentoring and to preparing our next generation of healthcare leaders. I cannot think of anyone who is more deserving of this year’s award than Dr. Borkowski,” said Robert Leech, FACHE, the Alabama Regent for the ACHE and Chief Compliance Officer for Enhabit Home Health & Hospice. “Without question, Nancy is a student advocate and has prepared countless students for the launch of their career. She has also been a leader in ACHE, having volunteered for a variety of leadership positions with ACHE of Alabama and with the national organization. Nancy is a Past-President of ACHE of Alabama and did a tremendous job, always, with a great vision toward the future.”

Borkowski has also served in leadership roles in local and national organizations including the Academy of Management’s Health Care Management Division, the ACHE’s Southern Florida Regent’s Advisory Council, the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum, and the Alabama Healthcare Executive Forum.

It has been a year of major awards for Borkowski. In April, she received the prestigious Joseph F. Volker Award – the top honor for a faculty member in the UAB School of Health Professions. Over her career, she has earned the Exemplary Service Award (ACHE), the Jessie Trice Hero Award (Health Choice Network), Excellence in Service Award (School of Health Professions) and the Frederick T. Muncie Gold Award (HFMA) to name a few other big honors.

The Regent’s Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award is delivered annually to ACHE fellows who have made significant contributions to the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of ACHE’s goals.
