dave morris 2024The UAB Department of Physical Therapy Department Chair, David Morris, has been recognized by UAB as a Distinguished Professor. He is one of eleven this year to be honored for exceptional achievement and contributions by The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. This is the highest rank a faculty member can achieve at UAB.

In the department’s 60 years, Morris is the first in the PT department to be named Distinguished Professor, and one of only three total in the School of Health Professions.

“Dave Morris is one of the most hardworking and passionate people that I have ever met. He is encouraging, kind, unites people and ideas, and makes great things happen at UAB! I am so fortunate to work with Dave every day,” said Dr. Jennifer Christy, a colleague of Morris.

Dr. Patty Perez, a long-time friend and colleague, said “I am so pleased to see Dr. Morris recognized as a Distinguished Professor at UAB. I have had a bird’s eye view of his professional journey starting as classmates in PT school, to clinical colleagues, to classmates again working on advanced degrees and finally as colleagues in academia. His passion has burned brighter at each step of his career and that passion is matched only by his humility.  I can think of no one more deserving to receive this prestigious recognition.”
