Allyson Hall, Ph.D., director of the UAB Graduate Programs in Healthcare Quality and Safety in the School of Health Professions, was named to the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) Board of Directors on July 1, 2020.

“Our board and management team are looking forward to working with Allyson to impact the next generation of healthcare leaders,” said Dolores Clement, DrPh, FACHE, CAHME’s Board Chair and Sentara Professor Emerita at Virginia Commonwealth University. “She is a passionate educator, who has a track record of enabling students to meet their full potential and become leaders in healthcare.”

“Today’s student faces more changing demands and uncertainty than any generation before, so this is a great opportunity and a tremendous responsibility that I look forward to addressing with the entire CAHME leadership team,” said Hall. “It is an honor to join such a renowned group of health care leaders and a privilege to continue CAHME’s legacy as the benchmark for health care management education.”

Hall is a professor in the Department of Health Services Administration. Her research focuses on improving access to high-quality health care among vulnerable populations including low income individuals and people living with a disability or chronic health condition. Her current research activities also includes reducing care fragmentation and the use of health care technology to improve quality of care. She has a long-standing interest in Medicaid.

In addition to the CAHME board, Hall serves as an associate editor for the Journal for Healthcare Quality. She earned her PhD in Health Policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Florida. Hall has played a significant role in the creation of the Healthcare Quality and Safety Accreditation process at CAHME. Her leadership and commitment to improving the educational process of master’s programs will have a long-term impact on programs globally.

“Allyson has participated with CAHME as a site visitor, on our Accreditation Council, as the chair of the Candidacy Committee, and in the Healthcare Quality and Safety Council,” said Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE, President and CEO of CAHME. “Allyson’s long term and breadth of knowledge, will impact CAHME’s mission of advancing the quality of healthcare management education.”
