Robert Weech-Maldonado, Ph.D., is the recipient of the 2023 Keith G. Provan Distinguished Scholar Award from the Health Care Management Division of the Academy of Management. This award recognizes a member of the HCM division who has developed a record of high-quality scholarly research in health care management.

“This award is particularly special to me because it is named after the late Keith G. Provan, an exceptional scholar but also a wonderful mentor and human being,” said Weech-Maldonado. “I’m privileged and honored to have received this Award from the Health Care Management Division of the Academy of Management.”

This award established in health care management, and whose research has had an impact on the field of practice and policy.

“Rob has made a significant impact in the areas of cultural competency, patient experience, and quality outcomes”, said colleague and UAB Distinguished Professor Nancy Borkowski , DBA, CPA, FACHE, FHFMA. “Over the span of his career, Dr. Weech-Maldonado has published over 160 research articles and participated in approximately 40 externally funded research projects. Throughout his career, Rob has given much of himself in developing the next generation of health services researchers. And for this we say thank you.”
