Light Dreams, the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center’s (ASC) celebration of the creative spark, added new dimensions for its second year. The centerpiece digital projection show transformed the ASC’s façade into a 3-D cabinet of curiosities. Virtual reality and an interactive game, created by engineers in UAB’s Enabling Technology Laboratory, revealed new worlds. And more than 40 community artists debuted larger-than-life sculptures and performances involving smoke, mist, fire, mirrors, and more. “Light Dreams is living art—art that belongs to an audience in the moment and never takes the same form again,” says Theresa Bruno, ASC corporate board chair, president of THB Inc., and co-chair of The Campaign for UAB. “There’s something really powerful about that.”
