Student Arts Council
The Student Arts Council serves as a bridge between UAB Visual and Performing Arts (the Alys Stephens Center, AEIVA, ArtPlay, and Arts in Medicine) and the general student population. Comprised of both majors and non-majors in the arts, the organization provides a pathway for students to engage with the Birmingham community at large in a meaningful way.
The Student Arts Council members will learn marketing, event planning, and educational interpretation skills as they advocate for the arts. From theatre tech to art curation, students will gain more insight and knowledge of the range of careers available in the arts. Student Arts Council members are offered free tickets to select events, behind the scenes tours, and career development opportunities such as the AEIVA Museum Workshop and free programming with our partner institution, the Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA).
