Alex McClurg is an artist and craftsperson, who primarily works in painting. Alex’s work is in- formed by his attraction to geometric illustrations from book covers created in the 1960s and 1970s, quilt patterns and the idea of displacement. His work has been shown in Puerto Rico, Alabama, South Carolina, California, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee, New Jersey, and New York. His work is in the permanent collections of the Ewing Gallery and Fidelity Investments. Before joining the team at UAB, he worked for nine years at the Birmingham Museum of Art in the Preparation and Design Departments.
