Nian Liu grew up in Wuhan, China where she earned her master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In 2014, her initial interest in Education sparked while working at the Wayne State University Confucius Institute. She was highly involved in various K-12, university, and professional programs. During that year, she organized lessons and activities at more than 30 area schools and provided lectures on Chinese culture to the university community. She coordinated large-scale events, including Michigan China Quiz Bowl, which features competitions for over 250 students. After that, she continued studying Social Foundations of Education at Eastern Michigan University and obtained a master’s degree in 2017.
In the process of language research and teaching, she has developed a strong understanding of best practices in foreign language acquisition and learning. She is very patient and friendly with students and dedicated to providing an engaging and valuable experience to students in class.
