Tim Ashe grew up in Chicago, Illinois and comes from a family of educators and public speakers. Before coming to Academia, he spent six years working in Corporate America doing sales, marketing, and language analysis for international companies where he focused on fostering relationships with people from various cultures and countries. He is also a certified interpreter and translator in Spanish where he has assisted organizations and institutions with their translation needs. Later, after working for a few years as a High School Language Instructor in various capacities, he realized he wanted to use his language skills in the community and investigate language use in Hispanic communities. He decided to become a linguist where he focuses on second language acquisition and how people use technology and cultural competency frameworks to build their proficiency skills.

He has over 14 years of experience teaching adult and adolescent students of all ages in both Spanish and English and has presented and researched both nationally and internationally. He has routinely collaborated with institutions and governments as a language consultant in both Europe and South America. He has lived extensively in Spain, Mexico, and Brazil and has taught both Spanish and English in various institutions and academies in a variety of contexts where he specializes in teaching linguistics and language for specific purposes. He specifically works on projects to analyze how mobile applications and social media allow students to learn about target languages and cultures and has published in a variety of technology and language acquisition journals.

Besides linguistics and language courses, he enjoys teaching Spanish for Business, Spanish for Law, Spanish for Medicine, and Spanish study abroad/culture. He has brought groups of students to Spain and Mexico for the last 10 years. Dr. Ashe is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.
