The MPA Program participates in two programs that provide additional pathways to a graduate degree. Undergraduate students may earn their MPA through the ABM and EA programs at UAB.

Graduate Accelerated
Bachelor’s/Master’s (ABM) ProgramUndergraduate students can take courses that count toward both their bachelor’s and Master of Public Administration degrees with the Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s (ABM) Program. Once admitted, students can take up to 12 shared credit hours of approved 500/600-level graduate courses that count toward both degrees. Students can significantly shorten the time it takes to earn a master’s degree and distinguish oneself as a high-level critical thinker and problemsolver.
Basic Requirements
- UAB undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 with 60 hours UG completed (36 of those hours must be completed at UAB)
- Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 while in the ABM Program

Graduate Early Acceptance
Early Acceptance Programs are designed for academically superior high-school students. They allow high-achieving students to be conditionally admitted into the Master of Public Administration (MPA) graduate program at the same time they are admitted to an undergraduate program. EA students must maintain a 3.5 undergraduate GPA at UAB to gain admission to the MPA Program.
