Study Coordinator for the Adolescent Diet Study
Dr. Orihuela graduated from Baylor University with a BA in Environmental Studies. Later she earned an MA in Education from University of Houston-Clear Lake and then an MS in Experimental Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She earned her PhD in Developmental Psychology from UAB where her dissertation work focused on the effect of neighborhood disorder on risky sexual behaviors in adolescents and young adults.
Currently, her research centers around the impact of food insecurity on physical and mental wellbeing in adults with chronic disease. She also serves as Study Coordinator for the Health Passages Study (PI Sylvie Mrug), an ongoing longitudinal study that examines early life stress on adult health.
