Chandler Caldwell, MSW, LICSW, PIP, is a native of the Birmingham area and is proud to call it home. Chandler joins the UAB Department of Social Work with a diverse background in mental health practice settings including inpatient psychiatry, health maintenance organization (HMO) care coordination, crisis intervention, and substance abuse. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Private Independent Practitioner (PIP), Chandler’s primary mission is to help alleviate barriers to treatment and reduce symptoms related to mental health issues among clients in the community.
Chandler received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). His primary goal at that time was to help non-profit organizations educate the community about issues that affect millions of Americans each year. He spent a portion of his time interning with the American Red Cross, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the UAB College of Arts & Sciences. After completing his undergraduate degree, Chandler pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the University of Alabama where he received extensive exposure, training, and skills related to medical and psychiatric social work. Since graduating with his MSW, he has had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients.
In addition to his professional roles, Chandler volunteers his time by serving on the Cahaba Valley Healthcare Junior Board of Directors and the Partnering to Improve Care Coordination Coalition (PICC).
In his downtime, Chandler enjoys spending time with his spouse, family, and dogs.
