NIH Announces Single IRB Policy for Multisite Research
To help further accelerate clinical research, the NIH has issued a new policy intended to streamline the Institutional Review Board process for multisite studies. The new policy will go into effect May 25, 2017.
CCTS Launches New Online Journal Club
As part of its Training Interdisciplinary & Emerging Research Scholars (TIERS) program, the CCTS has launched a new online journal club. The first “meeting” will take place Wednesday, July 20, 5-6pm.

Former CCTS Panel Participant Wins Excellence in Research Award
Dr. Jayme E. Locke, MD, MPH, assistant professor of Surgery, is a junior faculty winner of a UAB School of Medicine 2016 Dean's Excellence in Research Award. Dr. Locke, "a rising star at UAB and at the national level," received a CCTS K23 Nascent Project Panel in 2013. Her application was subsequently funded.
June Forum Provides Tips on Meeting NIH Rigor and Transparency Requirements
Four study section reviewers shared what they have learned from NIH training on rigor and transparency to a standing room only group of investigators.
CCTS Adds Sample Authentication Appendices to its Grant Library
Investigators applying for an NIH grant must include a new form in which they authenticate key biological and/or chemical resources. The CCTS has added samples of these appendices to its Grant Library. The samples are currently pending study section review.
