Me@UAB
Competition Guidelines
The Integrating Computing Across the Curriculum (ICAC) project from UAB in conjunction with Birmingham City Schools is holding its 2013 Scratch Competition for the Birmingham celebration of 2013 Scratch Day. Scratch Day is a worldwide network of gatherings, where people come together to share Scratch projects and experiences and to learn more about Scratch. Find out more about Scratch Day at day.scratch.mit.edu.
The theme for this year’s competition is Me@UAB.
Students are invited to imagine and create a Scratch project about their lives as a college student at UAB. To help project brainstorming, participants are asked to create a project within one of the following themes:
- First Day of School
- Nightmare Before the Exam
- Graduation Ceremony
Students are encouraged to research their project themes in order to create an authentic, yet creative story in Scratch. As the above themes are suggested, if students have another project idea, they are encouraged to create their project using their own ideas as long as it aligns with the theme of Me@UAB. Submitted project will be judged based on the relevance to the theme. The top projects from each school will move on to the final round and be showcased at 2013 Scratch Day on Saturday, May 19, 2013. Even if a student's project has not been selected for the final round, the student is welcome to attend Scratch Day.
