ICAC will host two sessions at the Birmingham City Schools District-wide Professional Development Day on February 18, 2013 at Carver High School.

Session Title        Introduction to Scratch
Session Description In this session, teachers will learn the basic elements of Scratch, a free visual programming language that allows students to create their own interactive stories, games, and animations.  As students design Scratch projects, they learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.  The session is limited to 20 participants and open to all fourth and fifth grade teachers.

Session Time 8:30 - 10:45am



Session Title      Scratch Lesson Framework

 
Session Description This one-hour session is for teachers who are familiar with basic Scratch concepts.  While working in pairs, teachers will learn complex program design, create interactive projects based on their own lesson plans, and determine wasy to use Scratch projects as a graded assignment.  Each session is limited to 20 participants, and open to all fourth and fifth grade teachers. 
 
Session Times       Each one-hour session will begin at 8:30am, 9:15am, 1:00pm, and 2:15pm.
