Every year, UAB IT sets a goal to achieve 100 wins for campus. This year, we’ve reached that goal just three quarters into the year — and more wins are set to come.
Among the wins are projects that have improved processes, helped avoid costs and increased awareness of UAB.
Just a few highlights from our wins this year include:
- CIO Dr. Curt Carver won the national CIO of the Year award.
- The IT Service Portal has been expanded to include services for three more units.
- New tools and techniques have helped us strengthen security against foreign attacks.
- UAB IT has worked to avoid cost increases by renegotiating contracts.
- The process for requesting research technology tools has been streamlined.
Upcoming projects include a redesigned student portal for academics and further expansion of research computing services.
“Our goal is always to help improve the work and academic lives of the people at UAB,” Carver said. “This is an exciting time to be at UAB, and I’m proud of our team and our strategic partners across campus who have helped achieve these wins for students, staff, faculty and researchers. We’ve got more to come.”
