Fellowship Experience

Thank you for your interest in our Advanced Cardiology Imaging Fellowship Prgram. This one-to-two year program is designed for candidates who have completed or are in an ACGME-accredited General Cardiololgy fellowship. Our program provides superior advanced cardiovascular image training in a collaborative environment. We have specialty clinics across our medical campus, which is anchored by our 1,200 bed inpatient center UAB Hospital—the eighth largest public hospital in the nation. The hospital is in close proximity to the Birmingham VA Medical Center, UAB Hospital Highlands campus, The Kirklin Clinic, and Children's Hospital of Alabama where fellows also train.

Clinical Training

Our program provides training in diverse cardiovascular imaging modalities. Here, you will gain practical proficiency in Advanced Echocardiography, emphasizing interventional echo for pre-procedure planning, intraoperative guidance, and postoperative follow-up in coordination with our Structural Interventional program.

Additionally, you will receive training in Cardiac MRI, Cardiac CT, SPECT, and PET, which will enable you to interpret a wide range of imaging studies under the guidance of experienced mentors.

Finally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of patient care plans based on imaging findings, enhancing your clinical decision-making skills.

Our leaders are passionate about providing personalized training tailored to each trainees interests and career goals. We aim to ensure the attainment of COCATS level III training standards, empowering fellows to excel in their chosen areas of specialization within the field of cardiovascular imaging.
