Implementation research is an emerging body of scientific work that seeks to improve health outcomes by closing the gap between knowledge generated from the health sciences and routine practice. The Division of CME can assist your research efforts with these services:
Grant Proposal Preparation
UAB Division of CME has helped many organizations develop sound educational research proposals that have been successful in securing funding from public and private agencies. To date, we have provided service to investigators of projects totaling over $24 million.
Needs Assessment
With expertise in identifying gaps in physician knowledge, competence, performance or even in patient outcomes, UAB Division of CME will help you design, administer, and evaluate needs assessment. Whether through surveys, focus groups using Nominal Group Technique, literature review or expert panel consensus, we will help you make decisions about educational programs that are driven by hard data. We can also provide CME credit for participation in activities where needs assessment instruments give practitioners the opportunity to "reflect" on their practice of treating patients.
CME Certification
UAB Division of CME is eager to bring important educational materials to practicing physicians and other healthcare providers. With sponsorship from UAB Division of CME, your participants will recognize that your activity has achieved the highest educational quality and independence from commercial bias standards. For information on the certification application process, please visit our Meeting Planners page.
Recruitment
Sometimes the greatest challenge facing investigators is finding and keeping participants for research trials. With its Alabama and Mississippi Practice-Based Networks, UAB Division of CME is well-positioned to lead your recruitment efforts. The physicians and related healthcare professionals comprising these groups are working for excellence in patient care and have demonstrated their eagerness for practice-enhancing assessment and educational materials and resources. We can help connect your programs to interested members and work with you to maintain their engagement over the duration of your study.
Division/Department Services
Alogn with our standard services, UAB CME also seeks to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve our services to UAB departments and divisions. To support positive advances and move from a compliance orientation to one of continuous improvement, CME needs to emphasize clinical integration, performance improvement, and system-based practice in its activities. To do so, we must align CME with organizational and departmental goals to increase our contribution as a value-adding entity to UAB units that share a similar view of CME activities.
Here's what our department chairs and division directors have to say about current and potential services.
