Our flagship professional development program focuses on cultivating leaders within the department. Known as Leadership DOM, or LDOM for short, the year-long training is offered to both faculty and staff as a customized, competency-based leadership curriculum. Participants build a personal development strategy to identify and improve individual leadership skills in a shared learning environment, covering topics such as honoring your personal bandwidth, conflict resolution, and driving change.
DOM seeks up to 60 participants for its LDOM class each year. Nominations open in September. Attendance is expected for all 12 sessions; applicants who miss more than two sessions will not be eligible to graduate.
All LDOM sessions are led by leadership development coach and clinical psychologist Dr. Julie McDonald, and UAB DOM Director of Strategic Operations Stacy Buford, MSA.
