Jennifer Girard, Kyle Meissner, Alejandra Osorio, and Chandler Price have been appointed as the Chief Medical Residents for the 2024-2025 academic year. The selection process was highly competitive, with an outstanding pool of PGY-2 prospects. As Chief Medical Residents, the group will collaborate with faculty to cultivate clinical teaching and administrative skills among trainees, lead rounds, and develop educational programs. Congratulations to this exceptional group of trainees!

The UAB Health System has selected Brenda Carlisle and Susan Jennings to fill two senior positions in its leadership team. Carlisle (left) has been named chief executive officer of UAB Hospital, and Jennings (right) has been named chief financial officer for the Health System. Both women have served in health care management for over 30 years. Together, they are poised to address the many opportunities and challenges UAB faces.

Dr. Thomas' colleagues submitted nomination letters highlighting her outstanding leadership, dedication to others, and commitment to promoting personal and professional growth among her team. She has been a part of the UAB family for over 20 years. Congratulations, Dr. Thomas, on being recognized as a DOM Staff Star!

 Seth Landefeld, M.D., Professor and Chair of the UAB Department of MedicineSeth Landefeld, M.D., Professor and Chair of the UAB Department of Medicine, delivered the annual State of the Department address on Wednesday. He highlighted the accomplishments, innovations, and discoveries that took place throughout 2022 and shared plans for the upcoming year. We reflect on his legacy and wish him all the best in his retirement.
